Well at last after several months of scraping £600 together just for the parts, 4 hours grafting, and a lot of swearing at a seized flywheel. It is now done.
My A6 sport quatttro is like a new car again. smooth as glass and revs round to the red line without trying to shake my teeth out.
The clutch was burned and on the adjuster limits, the flywheel was in a bad way, the centre bearing was shot and out of true, the dual mass plate was locked solid with weird slivers of metal exposed?? it also looked like the surface of the moon. i have got some images on my phone and will upload them when i have 5 mins.
Next job et the steering wheel off and either change the slip ring or re-lube it. that should sort out the creaking steering wheel.
