'Slipping' Auto gearbox 2.5TDi Allroad?

Wondering whether anyone can help me with the following? Had the car about a week and have noticed what I would consider a slightly strange gearbox trait.

A few seconds after a change up up from 1st to 2nd, the revs fall back for a second time, almost like it has changed up another gear but is still in fact in 2nd. Could this be the torque converter clutch slipping?

Also, sometimes when coasting to a stop or very low speeds, the change down from 2nd to 1st happens with a pretty heavy 'thunk'.

at best a gearbox service may sort you, where are you based?

do you have vagcom or able to scan it? if so what codes are being thrown up

there are specialist garages you are able to take it to, depends where you are

No fault codes coming up in VCDS, so I guess I will try an oil change and see if that helps.

just to check, remove the multi plug from the trans, and check for water/dampness, this will fool the trans ecu into doing weird things. i had this on my A4, and after an expensive trans rebuild it turns out to be water in the trans harness.

Mine did strange things after being washed, the gearbox seems to work fine but the selector display on the dash (PRND etc) all lights up & is blocked out. My fault code reader says its an implasuable signal from the multi-plug. Assume its due to dampness. If you take the under engine tray off I found it fixed to the lower LHS of the gearbox, mine seemed ok but after giving it a good clean & spray with WD40 & covering the seal in insulation tape seems to be happy again.

the cause of my water in the harness was due to a leaking pollen filter. this filled the passenger floor up with water. several inches worth, over time this worked its way along the length of the harness to the multi plug, in turn causing a short and all sorts of issues. i changed the harness and this sorted it out. not before being screwed by a gearbox specialist for a cool £2500 for a rebuild it didn't need.
