Boot won't close on Allroad

My wife opened the boot on her Allroad as normal this morning and went to shut it and it wouldn't shut. The hook thingy thats on a spring is out to accept the closing bar but it doesn't catch/lock closed. I tried WD40 on it!!!

Also, when you pull the lever to open it you can hear the electric mechanism working.

The dash says the boot is open and it still locks all the doors... the boot is just loose like the mechanism isn't there.

Any ideas?

OK - took all the trim out of the tailgate this evening and everything seemed fine so detached the latch itself. I found that the mechanism inside was a bit stiff, so sprayed some WD40 and loosened it all up and it seemed to work fine So cleaned it up and sprayed some oil inside - Put it all back together and its all good now.
