I keep hearing a crackling sound coming from the dash, just above the stereo. It sounded like it was the hazard warning light switch, when crackling I turned the hazard's on & it stopped.

Also when looking through the receipts, I noticed that on the 10/04 it had a hazard switch/indicator relay replaced under warranty.

It's on my 2002 allroad but guessing the switch is the same on all A6's, is this a known fault?

Not sure if it is a "known fault" but is certainly common and a fairly easy fault to fix if the Hazard/flasher unit fails. The links below tell you how to get the Hazard Switch/Relay (it is single module) out and also how to affect a fix to the relay that might work.

If I recall correctly the cost (a couple of years ago) of a new switch from Audi is about £30

Hope this helps

I went & bought a new one from Audi yesterday at £41 :faint:
I'll have a go at fitting it today if I get round to it, thanks for the links.
