Help non working dash clocks/instruments

Hi all,

I have my A6 (I know this is a4 section) and i have rebuilt the 1.8t and only remaining problem is the clocks don't work. They are the later type with no dis and no analogue clock. The warning lights all works but none of the other lights or gauges do??

I borrowed a set of clocks from a mate from a 1999 car with the analogue clocks and all of the gauges work but i can't seem to connect to these clocks with vag tacho or vag com??

I am guessing the borrowed clocks are imo 1 and my clocks are imo2?

The part number for my clocks is 4B0 920 950G- does anybody have a set of these clocks or point me in the direction of a set??

Could i use a set from a tdi if i changed the clock faces? So the rev limit is correct or is there more to it than that?

I don't believe any relays effect the clocks and all fuses are fine.....

I'm proper desperate now so hope somebody can help me...thanks in advance

I would say the clocks you have will never work, unless you change other components that will allow them to communicate. Im not an expert on Clocks but i would say its an incompatibity issue that may never work unless your a real wiz with ElsaWin (Audi workshop manual) and can figure out the circuit diagram
