Picked up my 2008 S5 on Tuesday, bought it private and hence no warranty on it. The car only has 30K on it and no reported issues from the 1 owner, dealer service, etc.. The big question is should I pay for a warranty, Audi asking £1600 for 1 year extended warranty which I am very reluctant to pay. Couple of other examples, Click4warranty asking £500 for 2 years and WarrantyWise asking £800 for a year.

Big question is do I pay for one or don't I and drop the cash into a "just-in-case" fund each year.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Tony.

I did the same thing with mine a year ago with my 08, reviews on the aftermarket warenty companies are not all good, try any excuse to get out of paying... as for the 1.6K something seriously has to go wrong to double that price, and if its not going to be double its not worth the risk, especially when there are no common faults. This is only my opinion, other people might think differently, i went with the risk but its up to you mate.

Cheers for the reply. Sounds like you have had no probs with yours. I'm getting a diagnostic and health check at my local Audi specialist (not dealer) today to give it the once over. Probably make the decision after that. You been fairly happy with your 2008 in the year you have had it? Polished mine up yesterday ready for a wax today and it looks brand new, very impressed with the build quality and the paintwork.

No worries atm touch wood. One thing actually, 3 times i have had the winscreen wipers not work for a short period of time, twice at start up and once going down a duel carrage way in the pooring rain. Only happens for a short period of time, 30secs - 2mins. Obviously when it happened on duely she started panicking but it will just start working again without me doing anything? Obviously i try everything to get it to work again with stork and ignition but doesnt help just have to wait for it to come back itself. I think its the control unit because the washer pump wont work either. I have auto wipers but it cant be that because when i move the stork fully upwards still nothing happens. suppose could be quite costly but happened 3 times in a year? Just seems to get its knickers in a twist for a short period. Can you ask your audi specialist if he has seen it before?
I have silver, your blue is beautiful tho especially when she'll be waxed up looking deep!
