99 A4 ABS ECU Question

Hello,

Bit of an Audi newbie, Was so impressed with my wifes A3 Quattro I just bought my first one - an A4 2.5 V6 TDi.

Its a 1999, all the mod cons............ Except the ABS ECU is missing, not sure why - the harness is there and looks alright. The brakes arent affected at all (other than the ABS obviously) the Dash display has a nice flashing exclamation mark - albeit badly pixleated!

My question is will any ABS ECU from another similar aged A4 fit and do the job? And will it be as simple as plug in and go?

it will need to be from a matching pump.

There are a few different pumps depending on wether your car has ESP or is a quattro etc

Its a FWD it does have a switch with "ASR" (Anti Spin Regulation I think???) in the dash which seems to do nothing - probably because of the missing ECU?

Does anyone know how I decipher the code when buying another one>

well the pump should have the number on it?

The ECU itself doesnt really have its own part number, as it was originally supplied as part of the pump, so get the part number off the pump and see if you can find a matching ecu. They do pop up on ebay.
