HEllo again guys and gals. Another techy question if I may.
What sort of readings should I expect on an AGA 2.4 V6 when compression tested? Just having a bit of a play before I tear the heads off and I am trying to work out where the HG has gone. Naturally I'll do both gaskets but trying to improve my mechanical knowledge along the way.

Thanks all.

OK not sure of the numbers you should see on these engines but for your intentions it's not that important as such.
I'd expect anywhere between 140 - 240 psi generally. It also depends on the gauge you use etc...

The main thign to look for is the differences between each cylinder. This will tell you if any cylinders are down on compression and where the leaking head gasket is likely to be.
They should all be within about 10% of each other(at most) or better (the nearer the better). Anything more is indicating a problem.

Alrighty then, I have finally managed to get a definitive answer to this. If anyone is interested the figures are 9-14 bar with no more than 3 bar difference between cylinders.

Mmmmmm...... so my guesstimate was pretty accurate then really.
Albeit on the better side of he tolerances.
