Radio removal problems

Tried removing the radio this morning and ran into some problems, namely the botom left clip seems to be broken as I can't get the removal tool to lock in place. Can you remove the climate control to get at it from underneath and if so how?

It's a facelifted avant btw.

Have you removed the glovebox to give you access from the back? If you've been pulling on the removal tools then you have probably knackered the spring clip. Never pull on the removal keys as if they aren't engaged properly then they destroy the clips. Always push from behind (ooh er missus!). You'll just have to force it out from the back.

Didn't think to remove the glovebox, doh!

I think the previous owner must have knackered the last clip as on the others you could feel it pushing against the spring clip when you put the removal tool in whereas on this one there was nothing.
