As title really. It looks like I may have turned up an AJL engine code ECU, Any idea what would be a fair price to pay for it. Any number son it that will confirm the identity of the ECU as well. Not in the habbit of being tucked up.

And how much would my chipped AEB ECU be worth?

I wouldn't bother if it's for your car, you will gain nothing except a head ache when trying to sort the immo out

I assume its a DA ecu? you realise you will need to change the engine loom for 1998 ish aeb or early 1999 AJL one.

If you want a value on it, i wouldn't pay anymore than £30 for it

Any idea where I might be able to get the pin out info from to confirm, what are the difference between my AEB loom and the AJL loom? By all accounts from what I've found the only difference between the 2 is the rasied boost limit and the K03s turbo. The later of which there seems some debate about. Figured a chipped AJL ECU would give me the 1 bar(ish) of boost I want to achieve

It depends on the age of your car tbh.

If you have a late 97 / 98 car you should have the 2 plug ECU in which case the AJL is physicaly plug and play.

If you have the 5(?) plug ECU its the early type and you will need a matching loom.

The ko3s is basicly only fitted to the B6 models and some US small port DBW cars on ther run out of the B5.

I was runnig around .9 bar of boost as std on my AJL car

12 psi on an ajl and a 4 bar fuel pressure regulator is what i'm told the differences are

My '96 had the early ECU with 5 small plugs.

The AJL motor is physically identical to the AEB. It has the same K03-005 turbo, just runs 12psi rather than 8psi. Drive by wire B5's and most B6's have a K03-029 which is the same size as a K03 on an A3/golf (the 005 is smaller), and the B6 "190hp" model has a k03-073 which is equivalent to the K03S on the A3.

I guess the one thing it would gain you, is you could use an off the shelf map for an AJL to up the power to around 210hp. Most AEB maps dont push things so hard, and because most tuners dont have a clue, trying to get the AJL map onto your AEB ecu will probably fry their brains.

Bingo mate, that's exactly where my thinking is heading.

I have a good mate who is a Superchips agent and a very dab hand with this stuff (another mate teaches mapping etc). Problem is he is a specialist in Fords not Audi's. He's up for a tinker though. If I can get him to drop the AJL remap onto a chip for my AEB I'm thinking it might be a better way forwards. I'm not too worried about the turbo packing up and taking its toys off in disgust as I'll just upgrade it. I think my ECU is the Bosch Motronic 3.2 (as best as I can can gather. I've been working through all the data I can find and can't dind any further technical differences.
