    Depends on a few things.

Avants all have split/fold rear seats for starters, so if your saloon doesnt, thats a problem right off.

Then saloons all use a U shaped clip to lock the seatbacks, early avants until ~1997 use the same U clip, but later cars use a pin style fixing instead.

So basically if you've got split fold and the avant seats are 1997 or earlier, they'll go streight in, otherwise, they wont.

Ok thanks for that, I'll have to find out. Doing a swap with Ollie from here (phoenixv6quattro) I've never tried to put my rear seats down but looking in through the boot, the back of the seats have one metal plate from one side to the other so i doubt they would split or surely there'd be a join in it?? Mines a '98 pre face and i'm sure his is a pre also.

Would the fronts be a straight swap do you know? Suppose you need the year of Ollie's?

    Thanks again

Hello mate. Yes mine is a pre-facelift 1998. I'm almost certain it has the rear seats have the early type fixings as they are different from later avants I have seen in the scrappy. They are split and fold as stated above, but if yours is fixed I cant see it being a prob if the seat dimensions are the same. The fronts will go straight in.... Does anyone know if the fixings for the bottom of the upright rears are the same? As in are the fixed back mounting bolt/nut holes in the same place as the folding ones?

If his are fixed, they wont have the mounting points to fit onto your car.

On fixed seats, the seats attach to a steel divider that sits between the boot space, whereas the split folds attach via hinges at the bottom then the catches up the top. The folding seats are a completely different design, as they need to incorporate much more stiffening etc. The fixed seat back is little more than a foam squab, whereas the folding seats incorporate a metal frame etc.

The seat base is the same, but the back isnt.

If your unsure which type of split-folds you have, look at the middle seat. The later pin style avant only seats have a centre headrest and a 3-point belt in the middle. The saloon seats never got that and retained the U clip. If you have the middle headrest/3point belt, then only 98> avant rear seats will fit.
