Turbo clean out!!!

Looking for some advice on how to remove my turbo so i can clean the vanes...
i have a facelift TDI and need advise on how to remove the turbo.
do i need to get the car on a ramp or will a trolley jack do the job...

i recon the turbo will come out the top if its anything like a 1.8T

Basically its a case of remove the airbox and boost pipes, remove oil and water lines (you might have to remove them from the block rather than the turbo if access is tight) remove exhaust pipe, remove turbo.
 
4-cylinder Diesel Direct Injection Engine (TDI), Mechanics Removing

  • [SIZE=-1]‒ [/SIZE]→ Release quick release fasteners -A- and -B- and take off front noise insulation.
Vehicles with air conditioner:

Note:
Mark direction of rotation of belt with chalk or felt pen before removing ribbed belt. If the belt rotates in the wrong direction when it is refitted, this can cause breakage.

  • [SIZE=-1]‒ [/SIZE]→ Loosen bolts securing ribbed belt tensioner for A/C compressor -arrows-. Slacken belt and remove.
  • [SIZE=-1]‒ [/SIZE]Detach A/C compressor from bracket and secure to body with wire.
Important:
The air conditioner refrigerant circuit must not be opened.
All models:
  • [SIZE=-1]‒ [/SIZE]→ Remove right air intake hose -arrows-.
  • [SIZE=-1]‒ [/SIZE]→ Remove oil return pipe from cylinder block -arrows-.
  • [SIZE=-1]‒ [/SIZE]→ Loosen bolts for turbocharger -arrows-. Leave the two front bolts loosely in place.
  • [SIZE=-1]‒ [/SIZE]→ Remove engine cover panel -arrows-.
  • [SIZE=-1]‒ [/SIZE]Remove air intake duct to air cleaner.
  • [SIZE=-1]‒ [/SIZE]→ Disconnect hose -3- from air cleaner housing.
  • [SIZE=-1]‒ [/SIZE]Unplug connector -1- at air mass meter.
  • [SIZE=-1]‒ [/SIZE]Remove wiring harness from air filter housing -arrow-.
  • [SIZE=-1]‒ [/SIZE]Remove air intake hose -4-.
  • [SIZE=-1]‒ [/SIZE]Unscrew bolt -2-.
  • [SIZE=-1]‒ [/SIZE]Take off air filter housing.
  • [SIZE=-1]‒ [/SIZE]Detach air intake from front of turbocharger.
  • [SIZE=-1]‒ [/SIZE]→ Detach oil feed line -1- at turbocharger.
  • [SIZE=-1]‒ [/SIZE]Disconnect hose -2- at pressure unit for boost pressure control.
  • [SIZE=-1]‒ [/SIZE]Disconnect hose -3- from turbocharger.
  • [SIZE=-1]‒ [/SIZE]Unscrew turbocharger/catalytic converter nuts-arrows-.
  • [SIZE=-1]‒ [/SIZE]Completely remove turbocharger/exhaust manifold bolts and detach turbocharger.

I'll be attempting this over the weekend should we have good dry weather.
Sounds straight forward but i don't have a clue so will be a mission for me...
 
hmmmm has anyone tried some form of water treatment for the engine. get it to ingest a supply of water at fast idle. the flash steam process should do a damn good job at cleaning it out (ie have you ever taken the head off a car with a head gasket failure?
