hi! Anyone had personal experience of swapping the standard 4 spoke steering wheel and airbag for the 3 spoke s line wheel. I cant find any direct info online but have picked up that there are variations dependent on year in spline size also talk of airbag coding and so forth. Ive seen a few s line wheels on ebay which look like they,d fit the bill i dont know what year spline sizes changed and im a bit dubious about compatibility with slip rings indicator cancel mechs. and so on. I really need a side by side compare or someone who can confidently say it can be done with or without mods to wiring and what the drill is. Ive had my steering wheel of in the past purely to recenter it and cancelled airbag dash light so that's not a problem. Any help appreciated. regards Mike H

Your is a 1995, so the s-line wheels will not fit, the spline is different.....changed mine to a b7 wheel (my 98 uses the same spline).

I think he just means a 3 spoke sport wheel, rather than a B6/B7 one...

If you want one that fits your car you need to look at the airbag. The early ones have big round dots like this:

Those will fit your car just fine, and they come fitted to Early A8's, early a4's and also some of the older cars like S2/Coupe etc.

The later wheels have lots of small dots on the airbag like this:

These wont fit your car.
