busted 12v socket

Hi all, i did wonder where the 12v socket was now i realise that its meant to flip up when pressed- but it doesnt flip up its stuck, any ideas on how i remove it to try to fix it/ replace it?

oh and its a 2.5 tdi v6 A4 2000

they only proper way to do this is to remove this to investigate, is take out the rear centre console there are 2 phillips screws for the 12V socket securing it to the underside of the centre console
