Normally I've just done oil changes on my 2.8Q and let VAG specialist do major services, but times are tough so thought it was about time I changed the plugs on the old girl as she has been a bit neglected recently. It turned out to be a slightly worrying experience as 5 out of the 6 plugs all had fresh oil kicking about in the plug cavities. This is on top of the plug, where the HT leads plug in. The car isn't losing anymore oil than normal, probably a litre every 2-3000 miles max. There doesn't seem to be anywhere that this oil could get in there, the plugs themselves were dry as a bone once removed, should I be worried?

Nope. It will just be oil leaking from the gaskets round the plug wells on the rocker cover. If its not that bad i would just leave it.

Ahh thanks that's a relief, it's probably just a thimble full in each plug well. thanks again.

Exactly the same on my 2.8 when i got her. Changed the gaskets now and the oil has gone.
