Which front springs for 2.5Tdi?

Hi all, just wondered if anyone knows what the different coloured paint blobs mean on the front springs.
The reason I ask is that I have just put a set of RS4 18's on with 40 profile tyres, and the arch/tyre gap is quite large.
I would like to drop the front by 10 to 15mm and wondered what OE springs might do the job. I have a copy of ETKA and it lists dozens of springs with different part No's, but no ref to spring length/ride height, all it gives is different combinations of coloured blobs painted on the springs. Any help would be appreciated, my car is a '98 2.5Tdi SE Avant. Thanks.

I would just buy and fit a set of eibachs. Cost will be less, and you'll end up with a more pleasing result.

That's OK if you drive on snooker tables but what if you have to drive on normal UK roads ie. potholes, humback bridges and craters ?

What if you want a car that actually works on UK roads ?
