18" wheels on tdi avant

Hi,i've recently bought a 1.9 tdi 110 avant and been thinking of fitting 18" rs6 wheels on it. Just wondering could someone advise me as would they fit fine with no rubbing or would i be better of on 17's. Would audi tt wheels fit or is the pcd different? Also i think it would need lowering to look at it's best would 40mm do the trick and be fine for everyday use? thanks for any info.

18" will fit just fine but your wee lump might have trouble accelerating with the bigger, heavier alloys and tyres. 17" will give the better ride though. I would look for audi a4/a6/passat alloys with 5x112mm PCD. The mk1 tt is based on golf platform and as such, the PCD is different 5x100mm. The mk5 golf/audi a3 has 5x112 so it will fit just fine.
