1996 30 valve??

Hi.
Have a look at this car.

It looks like it is 30 valve engine. I thought that these engines were from 97.
And another thing. How much would full respray cost me?

yep it is 30v, the engine covers are in the pic of the boot.

i also thaught they didnt release the 30v motor until 1997, however vagcat seems to list 30v parts under 1996 too. If you want to know if its original, theres a sticker in the boot which contains the cars build details (and also in the front of the service book) so you could get the engine number off that and see if it left the factory with a 30v fitted?

I will keep an eye on it and see where it goes.
I'm not bothered about engine at all, just that it makes a difference when comes to swap to V8.
Interior would get changed as well.
Body work is more important that's why I'm asking about full respray.
On the other side if it costs more then £700 I wouldn't see the point to buy a wreck like that.
For £1200-£1500 can get younger car in better state.
