Immobilizer flashing

On my A4 B5 got the problem of the immobilizer not tunnig of and flashing when i turn the ignition on.
Any one know what the fix for it is!! or any faults that make this happen.

with mine it was the reader, but i just bought a new barrel that matched my key, i was told you can swap the reader around the barrel but for £80 i thought just by new barrel
