Instrument Lights and digital Display wont light up!!!! A4 1.8TQS

hi guys,

jumped in my car to pop down to the shops......turned my lights on but my instrument display and digital display have no lights on what so ever!!! when i turn the key the abs and other display lights come on momentarily like they are supposed to but my instuments and digital screen dont light up???

is this jus a fuse problem or something worse? all the lights externally work......please help!!!!!!!!

Theres a knob on the dash to adjust them, try that first?

If that doesnt work there is probably a fuse for dash illumination?

I've checked the Fuses and they are fine, and it's not the button to make them brighter either........ Funny thing is the heating controls still light up butvery faintly, everything else on the instrument display, the front and rear fog buttns, cup holder and air vents don't light up at all......

Any ideas on what I can do? If it's a wiring problem how can I check it out? Rang audi and they want 117£ just to diagnose the problem......
