never see 400 in a million years, US hp maybe, but not good old fashioned UK genuine BHP.

Id be expecting 320 ish with 360 Ft lbs and solid low spool to make for a quickish car.

I just need a clutch that can handle it, mine slips on NLS

That proves what I felt then, the car is deffo livlier when it's active. I'd guess it's also what's affecting my part throttle/ low rev running or stumbling, maybe aiding the car in poping back due to overlap

simple to check by resetting the vvt, on cold start maps to nothing to see how thats effecting things on cold cycle vs warmed up vvt mode

TBH bud, I've not tried them, I see no reason why not.

I need to find the cash to order the valve spring, retainers and a cam then try and blag a ramp for a few days @ Bills. But Bill is flat out ( good for business) and I'm skint, lol

The biggest issue with mine atm is the 1 litre a week of oil she is drinking, It's almost a 2 stroke....

Also I got ripped off on a VVT that was supposed to be genuine, but it wasn't and i have had to stump up an additional fee for customs and return postage to get this sorted that I wasn't expecting.

At this rate, I'll be driving my daughters 1.1 Clio so I have a reliable car..........GULP

A few bits to fix the head.

    Supertech valves and seals

Tubular ex manifold, Devills own WMI kit and a wellycooler

Hopefully this should stop it bottle necking and excess heat being generated

Inlet cam specs VVT safe apparently

Side by side with a std 1.8t cam

This is the "matching" exhaust cam as recommended by CAT, I have to say the spec is so similar to the 3665 designated cam anyway, i'd bet they are the actual same part, but designated differently depending on the inlet pairing

    Exhaust cam side by side

I am attempting to do all this in 2 weeks provided all goes well with the baby due tomorrow. That should stop my car being a damned 2 stroke and a a heat pump so Bill can work his magic on it for me and install the multi maps on it, One to be banzai WMI dependent, and then one as good as it can be without WMI, but will prob run it for cooling. Then an actuator only jobbie.

Looks sweet. Congrats ahead of your childs birth.
How agressive are those cams? Allways wondered if you can mild cam a 1.8t without a remap

I asked for OEM idling and not massive overlap because it seem the 1.8t isn't happy with huge overlaps. I'm not sure on gains yet, and my car will be mapped to take account of them, even if it's just a slightly higher rev limit IIRC it currently stands at 7800. I'm hoping the extra flow will allow power to be made easier and then stop the damn thing turning boosts and timing into heat, lol

I've done some tinkering while waiitng for parts

Tubular manifold tweaked and test fitted

Bill got in there with his die grinder

Some more pics on his FB

ARP bolts fitted to everything I can feasibly do

    Lucky escape here

Waiting for an ARP crank bolt and an IE top pulley and bolt to come from IE to properly get into it and assemble the head properly, then we can look at timing the cams up properly using Bills special tool for cam timing from IE, curious to see how much the std marks are out in regards to where they end up

A few logs from today. WMI on but only water and still on actuator only, so 1 bar boost AFR at top of 12.3 ish. She is now fitted with an EGT probe so will ask Nicely to get it enabled and we can log that too

MAF scaling is STD so that can be relied upon in the /.8 for BHP ( 327 on actuator). But load is maxed out

    yup 337 and 280 on B5 rollers today .

a little to come, perhaps on multi map with banzai wmi dependant map just to see what she can do.

only things left to do is get some replacement discs as mine are warped a little and it's really noticable now, and fit my shiny wheels if they ever come back...

logs and plot to come when i remember to ask for it,lol

and a few logs of before and after

This was a log with the N75 on on the last file, space for timing and some better fueling up top to allow for additional cooling to aid keeping the EGT's sensible, still need to enable the sensor to see how it's doing. The colour of the manifold seems to point to be it being fecking hot

I think i'll tidy it up stuff the proper diff back in and sell her on. 50/50 atm.

No more upgrades i just cannot afford them, I wish i'd chosen a larger frame turbo I have built an engine capable of supplying 500 bhp and it's barely idling...

If she goes, it will be for something very std and boring.

    From them

    to them.

Now thanks to Matt @ Cat cams for sending me the replacement bolts for my cam gears i am hoping to fix the mechanical cam to cam timing because it's showing as 11-12 degrees out.

Wheels are back from machine shop, I just need to fix my mullered wing to enable satisfactory fitment . They removed 12mm from the back, so with a slight flare I recon we are good to go

Some phone snaps after their annual wash.

They both need some TLC but moving and having a roof over our heads seemed to be more important

Nothing good to report, I managed to score a pair of front wings in the same colour in much better condition than mine so i'll roll them and nail them on when I get some motivations back.

She just needed some tidying but my rattle has come back, so I had had to purchase some more rods to eliminate downtime during the swap over. At the same time I am putting another crank in just to be sure/ Parts are mostly collected for that project until....

Can you guess what it is yet......

This may delay things a bit, I was kind of hoping to fix the rattle and be done, it seems the turbo fairy had other ideas

Dan @ beach buggy has come up trumps.

I am using my spare chra I kept and having this shiny lot fitted to it.

Std comp wheel and gt 30 turbine (57mm by 52mm) I need to get my fubar turbo off to BBT to allow for the turbine housing to be machined to match.

We have been trying to locate an upgrade bearing pack, Owens do one but i believe they will only fit at point of turbo repair or purchase.

I have found these guys.. New silicone nitride ball bearing packs available | Turbocare..

I might go for it of my bearing is broken, but if mine is perfect as it should be, I'll hang on till a reliably sourced unit is available for possible future upgrade. With these guys it's around £212 plus carriage delivered, with brass bearing cages

Keep it and make it better

I keep dabbling with changing mine but it still scrubs up well even with its age and miles.

It's official the turbo is broken/dead/fubar. Replacement turbine and Comp wheel were going to be the order of the day, but it turned out my housing was beyond repair. So the closest thing available is a gt30 compact style housing. That should mean the CHRA will drop in direct, but my manifold, downpipes and that will need tweaking.

There are other options on the table being explored

The engine is in bit and the crank was checked and found to be perfect. This has led to a dilemma because I know it had a noise i want to track down, but I was hoping to see something wrong.

I am aiming to change the IM bearings while i'm in the engine as it has since come to light that they are available.

I have also resolved my bodywork "issue"

and it seems my seats have fallen out.....

    I wonder why?
