gearbox question

Hi

I am still looking for a better gearbox for my 1998 2.8q can any one tell me if any other gear box's will fit 2.6q? 1.8q?

i have the chance of a 1999 2.8q box will this fit ?
did they change after facelift?

it'll probably be the same, check the gearbox code to be sure.

any O1A trans will work as long as its not for a s4 or tdi. I have a 1.8T trans behind my 2.8 right now.

2,6L tranny won't work, it's 4.11:1 while the 2,8L unit is a 3.89:1.

Forgot about that one.

The 1.8 trans has shorter 1st and 2nd gears and the 2.8L trans has a better 5th gear ratio for cruising.

2.6, S4 and TDI use the 4.11 final drive ratios so they are out unless you get a matching final drive also.
