Rear wiper motor, B5 facelift, compatibility?

Looking for a wiper motor with the part number BLD955711A, there are various other motors on ebay which look the same but have different first three number and last letter, "1j6 955711 b" for example.

Does the number have to be identical or will something with the same number but different letters fit? There are loads from Golfs etc.

Generally it all needs to match, two part numbers identical bar the last letter can be completely different, or conversely similar enough that they're interchangable. Just depends on the part.

If you can get a golf one cheap then it might be worth trying it to see if it fitted, but if your paying sensible money, then just shell out for the correct thing.
