    60mm lowered a4's

    I've been debating as to how low i go on my A4. 40mm or 60mm. Has any one got some pictures of an A4 lowered 60mm on 18" wheels?

    Before giving a definite answer - why do you want to go 60mm lower? Is it quattro or FWD? Is it a Sport or regular model?

    You don't say what engine your car has either, and if it's auto or manual.

    Mine's much lower than 60mm, but still on 18's...

    NEW 6 cylinder 40mm front springs - £40

    It's a standard 1.8 manuel audi a4 front wheel drive. I'm going to put 18's on it and i don't want it to look like a monster truck

    Hi that looks good but i don't think i want it that low because of speed bumps and takng people in the back. Do your wheels rub at all?

    Here's mine black A4 with 18" rims and 30-40mm lowering (not sure because I bought it lowered, but it looks like my last car that I lowered 40mm).

    i dont really think you need to go that low.

    Thats a "30mm" lowering kit on Craigs S4 (although S4's are already lowered 20mm from the factory, so its the equivalent of 50mm lower than your SE).

    Go much lower and it will start to affect the handling the the ride quality will be out the window. Craigs car though rides just as well as it did when standard, and i'll assume marks does too, but i've never been in it.

    To be honest i think i'll stick with the idea of 60mm springs.

    Oh !! you will be lucky if they last longer than a few thousand miles. Std shocks cannot simply dae with the loadings imposed by such low and hard springs especially as they are probably past their best at ten years old. Unless you also reset the arms you may get premature wear there too

    IMO if you can't get your horizontal finger between the top of the tyre and the edge of teh wing it is too low.
    IIRC 60mm will bury your 18" tyre in the arch and put many aspects of your suspension past the horizontal into inverted like this 0\_/0 instead of 0/-\0

    Haha nice example!

    yeah i've slept on it and i think 60mm might be too low, safety wise. All i'm after is a standard look, i don't want it too high but on the other hand i don't want it to have that "slammed" look.

    So will it be ok to put brand new 40mm springs on standard suspension? I know the best result will be on new shocks but i dont put my foot down around corners and i'm not after performance...

    are they 40mm springs on standard shocks Mki? I can remember you said they were H+R springs

    Hi mate,

    To be honest. I'd change the shocks too. I didn't listen to these guys when I put some -40mm springs on my origional shocks. Within 1000 miles, the rears were totalled. lol. (admittadely, the car had done 126000 ish).

    up to you at the end of the day though. =D good luck either way!=)

    If in doubt leave it alone mate. No point putting potential tat on the car. I lowered mine 40mm on the stock dampers and the back now has developed a rude noise. I'm now going to spend the money again to put Wetec coilovers on after Christmas

    I have recently fitted a set of eibach pro springs to my avant dropping it by 30mm on standard shocks which still offers a very comfortable ride, much better handling and imo looks just right.

    I know it could be tat but i think it's worth a shot at 80.00 for the lot
