Never, ever have I ever had a dipstick break on me. Until Yesterday.
It was about quarter past five, I thought I'd just check my oil before the workshop locked down for the night, and the whole of the sleevey bit at the bottom of the yellow handle went all brittle and broke off, leaving half of it stuck on the guide tube.
So, I ordered a replacement from Euro (across the road) and he said it would be in by 8am today.Couldn't be rogered to find a bung for the dipstick hole, so I abandoned the Audi and took a Smart(!) home.
This morning, Euro did indeed have a part in. Full credit:- however, it was the right part number on the wrapping, and the wrong part inside it! Busy day, no opportunity to spend 10 minutes finding a bung for the little hole, so I have once more abandoned the Audi.
Tonight i'm in an '01 Volvo S40 2.0 Auto. My verdict will be revealed soon.
