i have an 96 a4 2.8 fwd.
and i recently aquired a free 12 disc cd changer from a friend of mine.
he also told me that the a4's came already pre-wired for a cd changer from the factory.
is this true??
if not how would i go about connecting it to my radio.

The only after market CD changes that I personally know about are Panasonic and Alpine that will work with your deck; you might have to buy a connector piece for the deck. If it is pre-wired it will all be in your trunk. This all assumes that you still have your factory deck installed.

Garret.

Can anyone confirm what shuttles work? I need to replace mine soon - giving me endless hassle!

My cable comes out in the bottom left corner of the boot near(under) the jack holder. 3 screws and off comes the box and the cable sits there.

Hi NxJxHxCedge

Just a quick word of warning before you go into any substantial expense re. your changer project. You hav'nt mentioned the type of oem HU you currently have but I'm assuming it's either a Concert, Chorus or a Symphony, if so it will only read the 1st 6 discs in the changer. Mine was a Sony 10 disc changer at the time and the only way it played discs 7+ was to let it play all the way through manually.

Good Luck

tricky... did you need a special cable to get the sony shuttle to work?

Hey Zero

Yep, You'll need an adaptor Box/cable that plugs in the back of the HU which will leave you 2 phono jacks to connect the changer to. The basic kit can be purchased from Halfords (Autoleads-Concept2)for around £50.00, other than that I can PM you a couple of other specialist audio firms that also supply them which are not just of a better quality but also give you the options of wiring up an amp, aux etc.

Hope this helps. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
