Screen Cracked

Got a mate who has a A4 Avant and has cracked the screen, he is not covered on his insurance and he is wondering if he could get a second hand screen fitted or not?

Anyone know if its possible or not?

Anyone got ideas of what this is gonna cost him?

Not sure, when I got my Audi the screen was leaking, it looked somebody had tried to fix it with bathroom sealant, luckily I was covered under my policy as is coincidently met with a large stone. Whether or not he gets a 2nd hand or new screen I'd get it fitted proffesional.

He is happy to get one fitted by a professional its just a case of if he can re-use a old screen we need to find out.

yes, you just need to get it out without breaking it.

What you basically need to do is use something to push a piece of thin strong wire between the car and glass, then use it to cut the sealant away, and the glass will come out. Clean up the old sealant and get someone to fit it properly and you'll be good.
