i own Longlife Stockport and trust me there is a lot more you need to do than other companys to be able to trade under the Longlife brand.

im Longlife Stockport and i dont think you will find much better for Ł350 and please dont go to powerflow what ever you do.

Why not use Powerflow? Only ask as there seems to be a few about and is it not the fitter that does the particular job using the branded exhaust sections so would be down to the individuals skills installing? Never used one but would be good to know if i need to stay clear!

powerflow tend to use lesser grades of stainless and there isn't much "vetting" to become a dealer for them.

it seems to me that anyone could become a powerflow dealer.

i had a choice when i started up a few years back for becoming a wolfrace, powerflow or longlife dealer i choose wolfrace but last year we moved upto a full Longlife dealer after being selcted by longlife (who make Wolfrace exhausts and many more out there) as a center of excellence. we also get visits reguarly to make sure our work is to meets longlife standerds. unlike any powerflow dealer whos work can go un checked.

TopGear Now own Longlife Exhausts and most work undertaken by longlife exhausts is TIG welded unlike powerflow and others.

Also the guarantee on longlife is on the car for life not so with powerflow if you sold your car and had a powerflow exhaust fitted the guarantee is void and ends with longlife this isn't the case life means life.

I see. Wot grade stainless do you use, T304? Is TIG the best type of weld for this then? I know wot u mean about the warranty, had this also with an idependant exhaust fabricator before that when the car was sold the warranty would be void, unusual for a lifetime investment, although his work was good from my experience.

Yes we use 304 tube and boxes we mainly tig the high end exhausts and most rear boxes which are seen resulting in very clean welds and strong there is alot more time in tig welding an exhaust than mig. we mainly mig flanges and exhaust hangers as this gives a very strong weld but most of the time you wouldn't tell we migged as we pride our welds and try all the time to keep everything as clean as pos

You sure can and i would recommend there is around 20 dealers in the UK so you will prob have a longlife center around the conner,.

Not to knock your work at all more a question:

When i've seen custom exhausts made up in the past(perhaps not longlife, but every custom system i've seen seems to be like this), The systems appear to be made in one piece, from say the manifold/cat/turbo right back to the tailpipe. Clearly thats fine when its on the car, but becomes a nightmare if your trying to do any work on it.

Surely its just as easy to make the system up in sections, just like the original manufacturers system was so each part is easily removable?

I would try and get a cat back so then your whole system is stainless instead of then having a nice system and a skinny standard downpipe.

Went to a local motor factors and got one then took it to national tyres, turns out there was no gasket fitted and they had used nylock bolts which had melted so the whole pipe had drop 1mm. Anyway dude at national tyres fitted the gasket ( for 8 magners, top bloke) and it's sweet as now will post photos and bid tomorrow
