What is this called and where can i get one?

    Hello!

this has been bugging be for a while now, but the triangular bits on the rear of the rear doors are all corroded up. I don't want to try to repair them myself, as it seems to have a delicate finish. Does anyone have any idea of where I could get a replacement from, other than Audi, how much do you reckon they cost and would it be easy to replace? I have looked but looks a little daunting.

    A pic of the bit I'm talking about is below;

    Cheers guys!

They've got some glossy ones on a facelift car down the scrappy but it's rear electric windows and I couldn't work out how to get the window down and remove it.

Its a door frame off job to remove it IIRC. Not difficult, just time consuming for the sake of a silly trim

They all corrode. I did mine myself just masked everything up and got the grinder on it. When the bubbling paint was removed the corrosion wasn't that bad. Just treated and primed with some etch primer then sprayed gloss black. Lasted with no signs of it returning for the 2 years I kept the car. Easier than dismantling the door frame.

Aye, easier fix than getting the whole door to bits, in fact, that's the easy bit, putting it back together and driving with out any wind noise is the pita. I think my drivers door has just about re-bedded in ...

A nice hammertone paint would look lurvley .

I was thinking about flatting and priming them, then getting some carbon-look vinyl to cover them... and cover the B pillars to match.

    Good idea?

rear door outer sail trim. 23 each in primer from Audi.
just pull them your self and paint. easy and cheap
You do not need to take door frame off.

    pull door card.
remove inner sail trim cover carefully (they break!) it is hooked on and has one central popper attachement.
Outer Sail trim has a Torx or Hex bolt holding it in place (sorry can't remember)
it is also held in place by the rubber seal outside.
undo torx bolt, crack the two door frame bolts but do not remove, a few mm of thread allows you to open the door frame to door gap enough to pull the sail trim out.
refit while you flat off with 250 grit, 500 grit, 1000 grit.
two coats primer, flat off with 1500 grit and two coats of gloss black.
total cost...one tin of paint as I already had the sandpaper.

I actually did buy the audi ones, one came threaded for the bolt and one came with no thread tapped. cheap *******s wouldn't take it back and i had to retap it.

fitted the new ones, painted up the old ones and sold them for 20 on eBay!

    don't like carbon look myself.

I tried taking one out yesterday before reading the DIY guide... I undid the torque bolt, but because I didn't undo the door-frame bolts I couldn't get it quite out, so put it back together again. Will try again this evening now!

NOTE: be careful with the inner cover... I snapped the locater pin off. Doh!
