Hi can anyone help. I have a 98 model 2.8 quattro and my powersteering rack is leaking fluid badly from drivers side gaiter. Does anyone know how to remove the rack for reconditioning.

The hardest bit is the 3rd screw that you need to lie on your back to access. The knuckle is kind of cammed in, so once the nut is off, a 1/4 turn on the head will release it and it will then slide up off the rack (inside the car)

The battery needs to be removed to access the 2 bolts that hold the rack from the top, also the fluid connectors can be awkward and be careful that you do not lose the banjo joint crush washers too. There is a a 6mm alen key bolt also that hods the solid pipes to the rack.
