Hi, have been having some boost problems,as stated on previous posts, anyway on a run home from Devon to London earlier this week, the car ,96 1.8t chipped, got slower and slower and was maxing out at 5psi.Then struggling up a hill at 70 mph with my foot buried, there was an almighty noise and a sudden lurch forward!, as I re applied the thottle, obviously I had lifted off completely, It was obvious the exhaust had blown. Although incredibly loud, the car was now running free as a bird and hitting 15 psi plus on 1/2 throttle.A quick stop revealed the cat had blown away from the turbo flange mounting. Now my question, I am using a mates ramp at the weekend for an examination/replacement of the faulty exhaust parts, I wondered if there is a common part that blocks/fails, I'm guessing its the cat,but if anyones come accross a similar problem, a heads up is always useful. Thanks in advance.
