WOT box 2 step launch

i dunno how they can claim reduced transmission wear...

In a normal setup, you depress the clutch, and the input shaft will continue spinning at the same rpm, until you disengage the gear, at which point it begins to slow, clutch plate momentum will keep it spinning for a while though, then when you go to engage the next gear the synchros match the speed of the two shafts and the gear engages.

Wether the engine is at idle or at 7000rpm makes no difference to how much work the syncros have to do, becuase in both cases the engine is decoupled at the same point, and the same time elapses between shifting out of one gear and engaging the next

Infact if anything, it will wear the clutch out MORE, becuase instead of the clutch having to accellerate the engine back up to speed (usually combined with you adding throttle anyway so the speed difference isnt that great) The clutch plate will now have to decellerate the engine from the rev limit (while you still applying power trying to keep it at the rev limit!) to the RPM the road speed dictates the engine should be at in the next gear...
