Today I are mostly been doing ??

I took the plunge and deceided to try the rotary polisher to attempt to make my car look less aged.

I erred on the side of caution and maybe could have done some more correction. She does however look better

First i used a hard pad and Menzerna Intensive polish 3.02, followed up with a blast of Menzerna Final finish 85 rd and a medium pad. All the while i chose a lowish speed of around 1200 rpm.

After that i hand polished her with Blackfire Wet Diamond All finish , and finished off with Blackfire Midnight Sun Ivory Carnuba Wax.

It definatly looks much better, not 100% but maybe 90% there. Not bad for a 11 year old car.

My camera isn't the best in the world, but i did my best.

I posted so i can check i did it right, i followed the sticky for dark Metalics on the Detailing section. Many thanks for Polished Bliss for the "how To's" and for supplying me with the correct stuff over the past few years to ensure i didn't waste my money on things that wont work etc

    Great work.

I wish I knew someone near me who could give my car a good going over with one of those.

    Quite a deep shine.

Byzan, send me your rear lamps, and in return, I'll send you the ones off my '96 A4.
Very rare they are too, you'll love them.

Byzan, the car looks great. Am getting a dual action polisher (Meguiars)in the next week or so as a birthday present, obviously from Polished Bliss who will hopefully help me choose the right polishes and pads etc.

But was wondering if you have any tips to pass on, novice to novice so to speak. Anything you learnt that would be useful to pass on after your first go?

    Many thanks in advance.

If you are looking at correction, i think with the DA polisher you could maybe take more time per section as it were. I tended to make sure the polisher was moving at all times till the polish broke down and then polished it off with microfibre.

I will leave it a few months and go again, normally you wouldnt need the intensive polish again, the final stuff would be sufficient. But as i took it easy i am gonna go from the start again.

I did mask the black trims etc to prevent splatter, made quite a difference in the clean up. I got that blue stuff from the huys at PB. Also it stops the foam from ripping or splitting on edges etc

Nice work, I did my car the other week. I bought some Farecla G3 and used a variable speed polisher, then topped it off with a couple of coats of Autoglymn Resin Polish. I'll try and post some pics.

Will defo be taking it easy on my first go so may do it a second time like you plan. What did you remove with the microfibre? The residue from the menzerna?

I use the blackfire sealant at the mo, can this be applied with the machine or is it just as good by hand at this stage?

I did use G3 for spot removing scratches before doing the whole thing. The microfibres were used to buff the polish residue off of the car.

I opted to use the sealer and wax by hand as i was a little unsure if i dare machine it after all of the other stages

The Farecla G3 is a paste type rubbing compound. Very very rough, great for removing scratches or sanding marks etc quickly. Its applied the same way as the other stuff.

With this i tend to wetsand whatever i have touched up, then use the G3 by hand to remove the marks before progressing onto the Menzerna stuff.

Know what you mean.. fitted new rear springs on mine on Saturday and left the doors open all day. It was like a beach inside when I'd finished lol.

I spent ages on my car yesterday with a full wash, swirl removal (ok reduction!) with Megs Scratch X, a finishing polish with Auto Glym Super Resin Polish and then sealed with Poorboys Natty Blue Paste Wax.

There was a half hour shower this morning. Went out to the car before and it's covered in sand/pollen/dust. Stupid rain!!!

At least a quick rinse should clean it up nicely now though.

Ahh you noticed. We can fit 2 cars on the drive inside the gates easily, one on the patio in the back. Another 2 on the front of the house, and maybe 3 outside the gates leading to the road.

Mind you it would be fun to move that many cars around, lol

Its good as you can easily work on one car and leave one ouside being washed without fear of the water trickling under your feet or back etc
