    E/W troubles

im having trouble with my electric winows on my 95 a4 b5. both the windows are completley frozen, i was told to listen for any noise when i try to roll them down but the only thing i get is a soft click when i press the drivers control for the passenger window but when i press the passengers switch i hear nothing... any ideas?

    Could be a dead motor...

Does the interior light dim when you operate the controls?

You'll need to check for power to the connectors within the door.

If none, it could be a control unit issue. It's the large relay under the driver's side shelf (accessed by removing the panel below column).

actualy when i press the passanger window switch the light dims very slightly, but i also noticed i can feel the "click" if you get what i mean, but still no movement whatsoever with the drivers side, and the light doesent dim when i press that switch either

In that case, the driver's side motor or switch have gone open circuit.

    Passenger side is possibly seized.

For starters, I'd connect your spare motor to the passenger's side, and test it again.

Driver's side will need a continuity test, it's possible to have a broken wire in the rubber grommet / boot between the door and A-post. I'd test for power in the kick-panel side to begin with.
