Golf rear calipers

The n/s rear caliper on my golf mk4 1.9tdi has started leaking and needs replacing,ive only had a very quick look but it does appear to be the same as the a4 calipers ??. Does anyone know either way as i have a pair of rear calipers off my old a4 1.8Tsport (2wd).

you might find the caliper body itself is the same, but they use different carriers, however that should be just fine for you.

Take the wheel off and compare the two calipers side to side.

Had a better look and my 96 a4 calipers are the early steel tyoe where as the golfs are alloy.the local breakers only had a caliper from a facelift a4 in which has the bleed nipple in a different position and if i have to buy one i may as well get the correct one,since found out the TT,fabia and a3 are the same caliper though !!
