help with a skoda?

Hi chaps,

Wondering if you can help...


A mate of mine has a 1.8t skoda x reg I think, anyways it's a taxi lol.

When he boots it and stops you can hear the expansion bottle gurgling almost like its boiling but the temp gauge is rock on 90..

Its had a thermostwat and waterpump recently...

The temperature guage is a bad indicator, as it has a built in buffer, and reads exactly 90c for any temperature between about 75-80 and 100-105c (ie what VAG deem the normal operating range)

If you have vagcom you can pull the real reading from the ECU, which might give you a clearer idea of the temperature.

I'd say its either the seal on the bottle cap not allowing the system to pressurise, and therefore IS water boiling, or an airlock in the pipework after the waterpump/stat change...

as part of a timing belt replacement? or was there another symptom, who did the job, reputable firm or dodgy back alley merchant.

did they put in a proper metal impeller pump or poxy plastic one?
