Yesterday the central locking on my audi a4 packed up.

The fob disarms and arms the alarm/immobiliser but the doors will not lock or unlock from it. I have tried the key in the drivers door, this just locks/unlocks that door, the others do nothing. I have also noticed when i try the fob i can hear (what i presume to be the central locking unit) a motor whirring for about 10/15 seconds then it stops.

So, am i better off getting an auto elctraician out ot have a look, or a local audi specialist? I rang this morning said they can hook it up to a diagnostic machine for £47 plus vat and tell me whats wrong? i would prefer the most cost effective method if possible.

please fellow audi owners, help me keep the faith that german cars really are the best on the road!! :sos:

the impeller inside pump will of shattered, pump is located in boot on rh side, open it up, move circuit board out of way and remove the 3 screws you can see if you want to be sure
new pump around £300, used around £40-100 or you can get the impeller part used on ebay, what part number is it? there are a few and replacement has to match

Thank you for your help mate, i will have a look next week as im going into hospital for an operation, is it possible to get re con units from anywhere?

Also is it much to replace? i mean do i have to bleed anything or stuff like that?

Hi,

You could try a salvage yard.

The contact below have always been most helpful to me in the past. They can post the item to you.

Make sure you give them as much info as you can to make sure the correct part is sent.
