i think if its a car that has the possibility of having them fitted from the factory like the A4 and the washers are present i recon you'll get it thru an MOT.

If its a car without proper HID-capable projectors, (say a corsa or something with normal reflector headlamps that someones just jammed HID's into), then i suspect the tester would scrutinise it much closer, and it would likely fail due to the light unit not being designed for use with HID's, and not having the prerequisite washer/levelling system.

I suspect thats partly why the A4 Halogen projectors are a bit poor, the optics are designed for HID's light output, and when fitted with halogens they just dont quite cut it.

I couldn't have put it better myself. I hate the chavvy little cars with the HIDs thrown in, irratates me, how can they see where they are going with light thrown everywhere,ggggrrr
