Chrome paint + Nitromors = FAIL?

Can I remove the chrome paint from the hard plastic reflective part inside a headlight using Nitromors? Or will it melt it?

I need to spray them with some silver reflective paint but it's not sticking too well. Funny thing is, before I ripped one open I poured some Vanish stain remover (the powder form) and hot water inside the housing to try and get rid of the green gunk that had collected there and it literally stripped the chrome paint off a portion of the plastic which was immersed. So, after removing the lens, I put the plastic in a bucket of water with Vanish and it literally did nothing.

I would like to speak to a moderator about the excessive selection of emoticons below. I can never, ever find the one I'm looking for.

Nitromors will kill the unit just key the surface with some light sanding paper and maybe a primer.

    You're not serious!

Spray paint will be dull, it'll never give a decent beam pattern.

Some I'd like to ask you:

    1) Pre or post-facelift?
    2) If pre facelift, triple headlamp or base model single?
    3) Which side?

I am! I meant chrome spraypaint, not silver.

They are facelift lights and I'll probably do both sides. I did my old Golf's headlights the same and they came up good. The beam pattern and light output was unaffected.

i'd very much doubt you'd be able to match the standard reflectiveness with spray paint, however seen as the facelift lamps use projectors for the dip, you might just about get away with it.

While your in there, make sure the rest of the chrome gets painted black

That was the plan. Chrome the reflective parts and black the non-reflective parts. Not entirely sure about black though - maybe pink?
