been lookin all over the place and cheapest i found is on ebay.. £90 plus £12 postage.

dont really want a gutted cat on the car, would prefer a propper de-cat. any ideas?

Where'd ye live? There a few specialist up by Glasgow: RMS, Mongoose and another one I can't remember, they do custom pipes. Price is dependant on vehicle, my point is, try source something similar down there, you may find cheaper than a pre-fab unit.

i live in bexley mate. closet place to me is sanspeed and there a bunch of robbing **** holes. dont really know any where near where i live :(

Any decent fabricator can build you one.

As long as you give them a CAT to work with.

that gets expensive tho, and its finding some 1 to make me a quality product that will not **** up in 6 months.

car is on thin ice, 1 more major thing after this and its gonna be charcole!

Hmmmm. I think that's the best price your gonna get. Unless your handy with an angle grinder and a stainless welder......

why not just use a gutted cat?

mine had one on it, and there was a definite loss of power when i fitted a new real cat to it...

Your clearly not wanting to spend lots on the car, so just gut the cat and save yourself the £100

you are right and i been talling my self this. i was hoping some 1 else had a better idea thats all.

I paid £80 for a de-cat pipe for my car before the Audi....a Mitsubishi Legnum. The place who did is was just a car garage that had means of fabricating stainless exhausts. this is in York, so maybe not local to you. But just an idea.

A gutted cat will have pretty much the same the effect at a minimal cost to you. nothing thats not worth trying.

I'm having a front pipe in stainless steel fitted tomorrow to match the rest and having cat put back on so will probably be selling my decat.
Need to make my exhaust quieter and told to put cat back on as it would help.
Will let you know if i'm selling it.

Problem with gutted cats is, they sound very hollow - I'm sure Alpine can remember how mine sounded, the previous owner had gutted the driver's side CAT, probably due to failure / blockage.

As a V6, it sounded awful, I would imagine an I4 would be less forgiving.

Worth thinking about.

Well mine has a standard exhaust so i didn't notice any difference tbh, but ye, with an aftermarket system you might find it sounds *****.

Costs nothing but some time to try it though, so its worth giving it a go.

You tried unbolting it and running it yet to make sure it is the cat at fault?.. before you put too much effort into it.

Well, my exhaust is standard, but still had that nasty, resonating rasp, and the hollow boom was unpleasant.

Nah ours didn't have any rasp or boom, just sounded normal tbh, but yer i know what you mean, pehaps the addition of the turbo helps? as i know its quite common for S4 people to gut the cats in their downpipes with no nasty noises?

I was convinced the cat had just died as it was old, and it wasnt until i took it off i realised!

It had been MOT'd at the same place for the last three years too before i baught it, and theres no way that cat had been off for any of them, as the cat to downpipe bolts were rusted away.

Juest realised!!!!!!
Q:best place for a de-cat??

A:On your exhaust system!!!

Badda boom!!

LMAO theres always 1!!

i have got my self a De-cat pipe now so all good. its deffo the cat as the car stinks of eggs when its running, and the turbo glows like a mofo in short runs with not boost! car also was running like a heap.. gotta be the cat.. and no i have not un bolted it yet as i have been working. :)

glowing turbo on could mean engine running lean as well

wanted a de-cat for it anyways so i aint loosing nothing. if it is running lean whats the crack there?? my next move would be what?

When you working on it? Interested in your findings? That and finishing this bottle of souther comfort, always seems like the easy way does SO-CO.

ill be very intersted when the car starts behaving its self.. de-cat shoud be with me shortly. :)

have done with past cars... not with this pikey Audi tho.

its just gonna be u in a min as she has just made me some promisies! lol

Get it in writing mate..... do it! Or I'll be seein more of you than you willof her in 15!!!!! Good luck!

If it's running lean you'll need to find out why and correct/repair it..

Could be your MAF, Lambda, Vac leak or even your fuel filter. There could be other causes but one of them is most likely IMO.

Hopefully it's just your cat anyway mate.

cheers for the pic griswold. ill sling you some payment in a bit. where you based mate as im all over the uk 2morrow im bound to be near you at somepoint!

pm dude! :)

The THS is a good bit of kit but the stud nearist the block can be a **** to tighten up ive fitted loads of these now for my customers and i have to heat the tube near the flange to make the stud from the turbo clear

strange you comment on this as i just been lookin at your gallery and notice you had 1!

im not looking forward to fitting this as i know the 3 bolts turbo side are a **** to tighten/undo and as for Cat side not going to be easy on axel stands :(

lets hope it solves me problem! :) Nice Car by the way billybravo, i done a simalar thing to my RS turbo, was a beast car!

When i did my cat last month i found the turbo bolts pretty easy, the only tricky one is the one nearest the block and i got that from underneath with a few extensions joined together and a UJ on the end.

The Cat to DP bolts however were a COMPLETE ****, all rounded off and crusty, and a total nightmare to get to. Luckily for me, i was replacing the downpipe too. So i just jammed the grinder thru the DP and pulled the cat and DP stub out the top.
