Airbag light on....

Well the airbag light has come on , had codes read by a mate , its a faulty igniter , he thought that the pins on the seatbelt pretensioners could be a little corroded , so have had the B pillar trim off , cleaned the pins up in the plug , put it back together . The light is still on .
Has anybody else had this problem ? Or is htis a common fault , any help would be appreciated

Its usually the conector under the drivers seat that causes the problem.

And you will have to use VAGCOM to reset the air bag as it will not go out until it's reset even if you fix it.

also AndyMac kindly pointed out to me that If you dont deal with the light and if you have any other airbags in the car they will not work until you have cleared the warning light.
