How do you know if you have a 12v or a 30v A4? Is there anything that i should be looking for?

I think the 30v only came in after a certain year. Also I'm sure you owners manual would give you the spec of the engine and then look in the service history for your engine number

On my 30V, the engine cover has a badge on it saying "5 valves". i.e. 5 valves per cylinder. Does yours?

If it hasn't got 5v on the cover then it isn't a 30v.
Have a look in the trunk, on the right hand side of the spare wheel well there is the datasticker which lists all the specifications of the vehicle (including any options installed). About 4 lines down it will specify the power output in kWatts. If it is 110kW then its a 12v, if its 142kW its a 30v (1.35 bhp to 1 kW)

Ok, that gives you your answer.

In the US the 30v was not sold till 98 so all 2.8 before that where 12v, in the UK we got the 30v from Nov 97 not sure about other countries though.

Hope this cleared up matters.
