Clunky gearchange

I have a 98 .8SE A4 and i find that the gearchange is very clunky or notchy, my last car was a Vaux Cavalier and the cure was to change the 'box oil to synthetic. This A4 has a FASH and 63000 on it.

Any ideas whether the cure is the same??

Aye the Audi boxes are not the smoothest.

No harm in changing the oil. infact it probably either should have had a change or is due a change at that milage I would have thought. Either way change it out.
