Drive By Wire?
From what Ive sorta picked up, this technology replaces the use of a throttle body? And uses varial valve timing in the engine?
This is a sort of toned down VTEC type thing is it?

Which of the 1.8T engines use this?

instead of having a throttle cable the ecu transmits electronic signals from the foot pedal to the motor on the throttle. this is drive by wire

...nothing like VTEC.
VTEC is a system that controls the opening of the valves, to give more lift at high RPM and make more power.
