S4 EGT fault

Car keeps going into limp mode, scanned it with vagcom and got this:

1 Fault Found:
17861 - Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor 1 (G235): Open or Short to Plus
P1453 - 35-00 - -

I'm guessing the egt is knackered cos cleared the code and it came straight back up again?

I am right in thinking this is the drivers side sensor?

bank 1 is driver side yes

Cheers, thought so. So knackered then? Don't really understand what the fault means, but I know they go on these cars, replaced the other side previously, at least this side's easier to get to, just a pity they're not cheap at 135 odd quid!

Just out of curiosity how much does it affect performance when the egt sensors fail?

Puts the car into safe limp home mode, ****** all boost, no go at all compared to normal, feels real flat., like a NA motor
