besides getting vag com software for a laptop or pda can anyone recomend some good scanners/reset tools that will clear service reminders, warning lights etc. Some links would be great! I have a 2000 a4. I got a drapper reset tool, but its only good on a4's up to 99. If anyones interested let me know.

I am the other way...!

I have a 98 1.8T Sport, I service the oil & plugs myself, cos I don't like to give Audi Main Dealers £180 (~$340US) for a two hour job...

But would like to know how to get rid of the "SERVICE: OIL" on the OBC where my trip/odometer is... Any ideas?

there are 2 buttons (clock/dimming(1) and the other s reset trip(2)) what you do first is push down (2) and start the engine, then let go of (2) and push/or pull(cant remember off the top of my head) (1) The "SERVICE: OIL" will turn into "SERVICE :- - - - - " then just drive or turn car off and then it should be gone.

Dann959,

Found this on the Diesel section, it does work on my '98 A4.

Press and hold the right button. (odometer reset)

now switch on the ignition
(oil lamp will not flash, but on at all times)

press the right button again
(insp is now displayed)

pull left button. (clock set)
(------ are now displayed)

Pull left button again

This works on my A4 tdi (110bhp) but should work on all.

Regards,

Jim
