My power steering fluid started leaking about 2 mths back, I took it to my mechanic who said it was worn steering rack seals and that the rack needed to be replaced, very costly. I decided to try Wynn Power Steering Fix and it seemed to work for 5 weeks, now the problem is back and worse then before, do you think the Wynn's product has made it worse, supposedly the power steering systems of Audi are very sensitive to the fluid you use??? Can the seals be replaced without replacing the entire rack? There has to be a more economical repair then replacing the rack?

From my experience as a garage, You can fix (there is sealing kit for fixing) the rack up to one point and then you have to change it if the problem still persist.

I dont think there will be a economical repair for the rack. If you fixed it and it didnt work, you have to change it. Another alternative is to find second hand rack which is in good condition.

Hope this helps.

This happened to me on my A4, and I was given 2 choices. My Audi specialist could get my rack refurbished, or get an exchange rack from Audi. Went for the exchange in the end as I didn't want my car off the road for a week+. Cost £800 all together (including hideous amounts of labour), the exchange rack was about £350-£400.
No way round it I'm afraid.

I have looked on the web for such a sealing kit, but could not come up with anything. Do you know of an online store that will have?
