It seems like the tool would give you a basic overview of faults, but I personally beleive you'd be better off with VAG-COM from Ross tech.

The program will allow you to log data as well as look at fault codes...but enough of the sales talk you can see what it does on their site.

There are also a couple of other programs on the market for VAG vehicles, but VAG-COM is the most recognised I feel.
