    Fitting 19" wheels...

    Can anybody help...
I currently have a set of Eibach springs (Pro-kit) fitted to my S4 Avant – Will I be able to fit 19" wheels without them rubbing on the arches???
    Cheers

What you need to do is keep the same rolling circumference.
If you can give me the size of the tyres you have on your car, I can tell you what size you can go up to in 19".

Hi, I currently run on 225/40/ZR18. The wheel width is 8J
Does that help?? I'm really crap at this sort of thing hence the new threads I keep on creating!!

The springs drop the car by 35mm

Mate, that looks wicked!!! Esp black with yellow. You sure it doesn't rub against the arches – there isn't any clearance!!!

No problem at all just need to watch out for pot holes and the like, check the tyre pressure at least twice a week too, the coilovers and the 19"s arent that bad for ride quality.

tyres arent cheap just paid £150 a pice for Conti sport contact 3's

I'm running 8x19 BBS with 235/35/19 tyres on coilovers too with no worries at all, have rolled the front arches slightly cos didn't wanna raise it up any more, but I'm sure you'll be fine with the drop you have, there's no scrubbing at all even with 4 adults in the car.

I've got some figures for you
    At the moment with 225/40/18
Diameter of wheel with tyre= 318.6MM or Circumf: 2002MM
    with 19" wheels
    225/35/19= Diameter of wheel with tyre= 320MM or Circumf= 2011MM
    235/35/19= Diameter of wheel with tyre= 323.5MM or Circumf= 2033MM
    245/30/19= Diameter of Wheel with tyre= 315MM or Circumf= 1978MM
    255/30/19= Diameter of wheel with tyre= 318MM or Circumf= 1997MM

Anything wider may rub against the wheel arch
Remember that if the circumference is lower than it is now, when your speedo is showing 70MPH, you will actually be going slower.
But if it is higher than the original, you will be going faster than the speed showing on the speedo.
You must also take into account that the speedos are about 10% optimistic in general

The car is sitting on 40mm Eibach springs – still think she could go down more but I don't want to compremise the current ride quality.

To be honest I'm well chuffed with the new look!!!

I particularly like the middle picture. Very nice. Love your choice of split rims. Classy and suit the car.

I'm with you on the lowering thing really. Yes you could go lower and yes it would possibly have a better look but, if you are like me and do a few miles, then ride quality is more important that slamming too low just to make it look pretty.

Having said that. I'm not a huge fan of cars that look lower than they should. I'd say you've got it just about right.
I'm an optimist but I don't think it helps much.

i have 8x18s ET43 and I found it wasn't the arches that limited my tyre choice but the internal curve of the bearing carrier upper arm.
can;t imagine getting 19's to fit, they must be super low profile tyres as I have about 1.5mm clearance inside mine.

going to get some spacers as I fancy running them a bit wider

I'm with you on that one. I've been through loads of wheels and finally found a set that suit the car – i had them sprayed the colour and finish I wanted but was well worth the extra cash.

The tyres are 225/35/19. I opted for a narrower tyre incase of rubbing but several guys on this forum run 235 with no problems. Have been told that the Avant has a narrower space than the saloon at the rear hence the 225 width.
Wasn't 100% taken with that fact but didn't want to risk it.

Sure are. They've been painted and the surface texture has also been changed.
The wheels are quality – light and strong. They're 1.8 kilos lighter than my 18s!!!

Not quite – sore subject!! Was told by Dotz they would be fine – yeah right!!!
I needed 3mm spacers, which isn't the end of the world but would of preferred without!
