Just bought A4TQ & HELP NEEDED

    Hi all,

Just purchased my first Audi. Its a 2000 A4 Turbo Quattro in a mint conidition. Just before purchasing it I arranged a pre-delivery check with Audi Huddersfield. They have checked the car and havent found any faults, apart from rear brakes and CV boot...

However there is a problem and I need you help to put me in a right direction to solve it.

The car doesnt perform at all. It very very sluggish. My company mondeo turbo diesel 115bhp is quicker, beleive it or not. The Audi sound just fine but when you put the foot down nothing much happens. You can just hear the turbo but the power is more of a 1.8 NA. Any thought???

Please help. Any help is much appreciated.

    regards

    kvatro

    Cheers Fraser,

    I bought the car privately.

I've paid the dealers 114 and they couldnt find anything. I spoke to them again and they quoted me 228 more to check the engine thoroughly.

I drove few other A4QT before and they were much quicker. I wish I tested this one properly myself instead of relying on dealership...

Is there an Audi specialist in Sheffield?
Should I try cleaning the MAF?

Sounds like a boost leak. Any funny 'wooshing' or 'air' sounding noises? Check all your pipes carefully. Maybe N75 related too...

Could be a boost leak of the N75, VAGCOM can check th N75 and you should hear it clicking when being checked.
It could also be the turbo or actuator, my actuator had given up and was not working then when i removed it i found the turbo waste gate had also come off and mine was performing at 1.8NA standards as well.
Good luck finding the faults there is loads of info on here and were all more than willing to point you in a direction to look.

Thanks a lot for the info.

I'll check for the leaks but can you tell me where I can take the car to get it tested properly. Anywhere in Sheffield or should I just take it to AWESOME GTI at manchester???

Use the internet or local phone book and see if there are any Audi specalists in your area to get it plugged in to see if there are any faults on the ECU as well.

I just had a look at Yell, and found a couple in sheffield. I'm taking it there next week.

I've also noticed that when I change gears the revs stay up more than usual. It also doesn't rev as freely at it should.

    Thanks Dave,

I'll get the specialists to have a loot at that as well. I've checked to any air noises/leaks but I couldn't spot any.

    Cheers

Sorry to tell you this brothers but you're all wrong!
The dudes gonna need a new turbo...

I had the same trouble with mine when i took delivery of it, tried the MAF, coolant temp sensor, N75 AND had it on VAG.COM. (Cheers Wayne! )
When i eventually plucked up the courage to strip the blower off it i found the wastegate valve had dropped off and wormed it's way into the cat...
Being a bodger i managed to fix it (don't ask) but it should have had a new turbo really!

    Hahaha,

you are all wrong. I got it fixed and it was the tiny split/rotten vacum hose. It was as simple as that but 'Awesome' STILL MANAGED TO RIP ME OFF. 135... I couldn't beleive it...

Anyhow, i was glad that it wasn't anything serious, and the car absolutely flies. God only knows how long the vacum hose was split making the car underperform drastically.

Thanks a lot to all of you out there. Keep up the good work.

    Best Regards

Was the cable split at the engine block near the top of the engine?
